Loren, Actually I have thought about 'after the Northern Division'. I'm not rushing the Northern Division to completion for one thing. I have a feeling it will be the last big layout for me. I hope to make it my best room-sized layout. That said, I think when it is gone I will leave the back drop up for photo back ground and build a layout about 8' x 6' that I can walk around. Doing these layouts for hire has taught me a bit about viewing angles and photographic posibilities. Like Jurg, photography is my favorite thing. With a smaller layout done to the "nines" the photo ops will increase as I get to take pics from all sides. In fact the Northern Division will have higher mountains and this will give me some opportunities to explored shooting photos out of hidden windows in the mountains to obtain those "how did you do that" photos. Jerry, This trestle is hand built by me. It is my design and I accept full responsibility for any train mishaps. Actually, I got into the habit of making my bridges in situ. I don't prefab them. I like their finished funky look. This is one of my better ones. As for wood you can use basswood or balsa. These should be in any trainstore. I can't remember the ones in Portland anymore. Vic's Hobbies in Hollywood will have this wood if Vic's is still there! There are a couple of manufacturers. I use Northeastern Scale Lumber Co. products. They measure for HO, so largest pieces I use are HO 8x8 for the heavy stuff. Then 4x6 and 4x4. The other manufacturer goes by inches, I don't have their packaging laying around. I would say the the NE Scale 8x8 looks to be no more than 1/16 x 1/16 inches. That is plenty big for bridges. Cheers, Jim CCRR:-)
