- Hi Alex,
I'm not becomming the next manufacturer after MTL and AZL. No intensions to develop my own chassis (before my retirement...). The NW5 is a result of some existing chassis. And this is the case with all my kitbashes.
I'm aware of at least seven road names: GN, BN, SOU, COE, EPTC, MCER and OPR. Is that nothing?0
- Gerd, Only the NW5 will be available? Not many road-names to choose from.0
- there will be a limited number of RTR brass locos available. I will try to cast next time a shell, maybe in low temperature alloy. Another option is to make a proper etching film. Depends a bit one time and some other factors...0
- Lots of details added: tanks resin casted, custom grab irons and lift rings, free standing hand rails, new louver, snow plow (one of the hardest bits...), MU-hoses and boxes, chimney, airtanks, correct size cab, narrowed windows, etc.0
- Basically made from two Zthek SW1 kits with additional plain brass parts here and there.0
- I' have started to make photos, but after some experimenting it was becoming a bit messy, therefore I stopped. With the next loco I will make some pictures0
- It's not a GP9, it's a AZL GP7, the MTL chassis is too long and too wide to make a prototypical exact NW5. The chassis needs still a lot of work on the mill, the ends are chopped, the girder above to motor is chopped too, the tank area cleaned up. On top of it the chassis needs to be completely insulated against the brass shell0
-
that's now the 3rd time I'm trying to answer some questions, but after a while the page refreshes and my comment is gone. Therefore I will write a couple of them to answer the questions0
- Great thinking and execution, wonderful kit bash. Congratulations. Did you take pictures of the construction? How did you make the chassis to fit?

Lajos :-)0
- Beautiful work Gerd!0
- Good looking Switcher Gerd. Is it brass construction?0
- Nice job, I've considered this kit bash my self as the Geep 9 is just the right size. Did you have any problems losing the height off the body?0
