- Jon. I see that I found that if I sectioned the boom in three piece like the P&H crane I did the boom is 70' long and I used three pieces to put it together and it printed good. so I can use it for a flat car load or the working crane also the only thing is I had to use a fine wire to hold the boom up because of the weight of the boom.and the base of the crane being only ten foot wide. I didn't do the same with the one I'm doing now. It's one piece I got to pass the thin wall Now for the test of it printing out. I ha to rework the drawing several time to fix some of the problems since I'm not and engineer in building respects. I see you have a lot of details above in your Model nice work and I know some people don't like the word nice but it fits the project and I fine it looks great. you inspire me in my work I do as does stony because of both of your work with movable parts. I have done some but still trying but just don't get the help I need. I guess it is trial by error.0
- Thanks Walt. I did do a test print with shapeways of the low cab version with a short boom (no boom section in the middle) that should work well with even a 40 ft flat car. Of course I had to do the "print it anyway" option because even though it printed out fine with zero problems, it would get rejected if I tried to sell it because of the boom and other parts. Its still siting in the Shapeways bag... Just need to find time to mess with it.... But get pictures of the one near you while you can. They are not as common as they used to be....0
- Jon,
That looks great and very nice details! glade to see your back to working on that one. I have been wanting to take Photo's of the one down by the Railroad tracks in Maysville Ky. But just haven't had the time to do so but I don't think it has the high cab like that. can't wait to see it done! Really great job!!!
