- Thanks for the construction tips, one day I might try my hand at making a ship. Root canal drills, what a great idea. Time to talk to Dave our local dentist. He gives me all his used surgical stuff after its been sterilized. Not exactly sandbox for me.0
- Interesting write up on Boston Light on Wikipedia. First lighthouse in N.A. built 1716 with money collected on tarrifs on imports. Destroyed in 1776 (+-) when the British were forced out of Boston- rebuilt 1783..same structure stands today. Lots of wrecks- etc. Notes on model: Masts and spars made from wires from old fake flower arrangements. Also used pins- etc for smaller diameter. Heavy thread glued with CA at waterline gives a good boundry for painting and looks like a rub surface. Sails made from thin evergreen plastic sheets. Holes drilled in sails to tie thread- sail to spars- used root canal tiny drills. Red and white flag over "5" on Mystic is International Code of Signals--PILOT ON BOARD--Hulls are made of solid wood- cut out on band saw and shaped with box cutter knife. Simple- SANDBOX- :-)0
- They look some nice together Fred. Left Boston area in 1998, now i'm homesick lol. As always your workmanship inspires me. Thanks.0
