- Thank you, Sir! Just a short explanation for landlovers... A spud dredge is moved on location by the assist tug boat. The 4 rising post on each corner are then lowered to the bottom to hold dredge in place. The clam shell then picks up from the bottom and either drops it in a new location, or into another holding barge- from there the slush is either piped to another location, or the tug takes the slush barge out of the area for dumping. I researched lots of fotos of spud dredges and almost any configuration can be found. This one is for small, river or bay use, and has used an old rail car for the crane. It could be used to deepen the water near a dock for pleasure boats, or even be set up as a pile driver. <br />Fred0
